It’s been quite a while since I have done anything sewing or blog related. My space was just too cramped and it was a pain to keep moving everything back and forth to get anything done. By the time I was set up and ready to go, I was too grumpy or just out of time.
My boys were sleeping in their own rooms. After 3 or 4 months in our room with us, they had been moved to their cribs. That was all they could remember, as far as sleeping arrangements were concerned. Then my youngest started crying for his brother every night, and my oldest was upset hearing his brother upset. All of this ended in their getting their big boy (toddler) beds and sharing a room… leaving a whole room just sitting there!
It’s been a slow process, but I’ve finally gotten the room set up so that I can do stuff in here. Since I was going to have more room, hubby grabbed a clearanced ironing board at work for me. No more table top ironing board! I can leave my projects laying where I was last working on them instead of just packing everything up. There’s a lot left to do in here to make it look nice, but for now it’s functional and mine to escape to. The only things not mine are the two dressers that hold the kid’s clothes. I can deal with that. Now, I would have happily handed the space over for my step daughter to have her own room when she’s here, but she didn’t think she’d sleep in it. She prefers to camp out in the living room. We still might get a futon so if she changes her mind she can crash in here, but since she really has no desire to that’s an expense we can put off for a while.
Since getting it functional, I’ve barely used my space. What time I’ve spent in here has mainly been attempting to iron out some stubborn creases so I can attempt Get Carded by Dog Under My Desk. I’m really excited to give this pattern a go, but so far none of the fixes for stubborn creases I’ve come across helped. My next step is to try vinegar, and if that doesn’t help I guess I’ll wash the fabric and lay flat to dry? Ugh.
